TEAM NEWS
Oxford United look to continue their excellent start to the season as they travel to Northampton Town on Saturday. The U's are unbeaten since March and continued their great start to the league campaign with a 1-0 win at Bristol Rovers last Sunday to move up to fourth in the table. That win came at a price though with top scorer Kemar Roofe suffering a shoulder injury that is likely to rule him out. The U's will wait and see how the injury settles but Roofe could return as early as next Saturday's home game against Portsmouth.

Callum O'Dowda is expected to come in to the side as a straight replacement while head Coach Michael Appleton faces interesting choices in midfield where Liam Sercombe serves a one game suspension. Josh Ruffels and John Lundstram both impressed in a friendly at Southampton on Tuesday and look to be competing for one place.

Johnny Mullins returns to the squad after an ankle injury and Appleton must decide whether to bring the influential Mullins back into the side or stick with Chey Dunkley who played a big part in the clean sheet at Rovers last time out.

THE OPPOSITION
Northampton boss Chris Wilder has injury doubts over Zander Diamond (dead leg), Ricky Holmes (back), Brendan Moloney (knee) and Evan Horwood (groin) plus former U's favourite Alfie Potter.

“It’s not an excuse but we’ve got some big players out at the moment,” Wilder told the official Northampton website. “The injuries to Zander, Brendan and Ricky are all really unfortunate and we’ve lost Adam Yates to injury as well

“There are a couple of players that maybe we’d like to take out of the team in this period but we can’t because of injuries so we just have to get on with it. It won’t be our strongest side against Oxford but whatever team I put out we will be positive and get on the front foot.”
