Manager makes final four for award
Oxford United Head Coach Michael Appleton has been nominated for the Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month for October.
The U's hit top form in October, ending with the 5-1 win at Stevenage on Saturday and that form sees Michael shortlisted for the first time in his U's career.
The top four are:
Derek Adams (Plymouth Argyle)
Life managing in England could not have begun much better for the Scot. Fifteen points from six games in the month lifted Argyle five points clear of their rivals as they built on the strong defensive foundation laid by Adams.
Michael Appleton (Oxford United)
Has quietly built an Oxford side capable of sustaining a promotion challenge. Their October surge was underpinned by seven points and 10 goals from three away games as four wins and a draw lifted them into the top two.
Chris Wilder (Northampton Town)
A fabulous month for Wilder when you consider the off-field distractions with which he and his players have had to contend. His side gained 13 points from six games, which included a thrilling 3-2 win at promotion rivals Wycombe Wanderers.
Mark Yates (Crawley Town)
October began with Crawley hovering precariously above the relegation places. Under Yates’ shrewd stewardship, bringing in loan signings and inspiring his players, four wins from six games meant it ended with them in mid-table.
ALL WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY NOVEMBER 6 2015
The judging panel comprises former Ipswich Town manager George Burley, Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery
