Women's side ready for Thursday night opener
Oxford United Women kick off their brand new WSL2 season on Thursday evening as they welcome Watford to Abingdon United’s Northcourt Road Stadium.
The U’s ended last season strongly and have a settled squad available again after their first season at this level, something which manager Les Taylor believes will stand them in good stead.
“It took us a little while to settle last season but that was to be expected because we had made such quick progress through the leagues to reach the WSL. Results improved as the season went on and I think the experience will have done the girls a lot of good.
“They know the standard they have to reach every week and they know how hard they are going to have to work, but we are looking forward to the challenge and Thursday night should be a really good game.”
Thursday’s game kick off at 7.45pm at Northcourt Road and admission is just £5 adults and £2 for under 16s and over 65s.
