Max to feature in squad for Oceania Olympic qualifying tournament

Oxford United goalkeeper Max Crocombe has been named in the New Zealand Under-23 squad for the 2015 Pacific Games, the winners of which will qualify for the Rio Olympic Games in 2016.

Max is one of three keepers named in the squad, alongside Nik Tzanev of Brentford and Oliver Sail from Wellington Phoenix, for the All Whites, who are in Group B of the tournament, alongside hosts Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia.

The first game takes place on 3rd July against Solomon Islands; on 5th July New Zealand face Papua New Guinea and two days later they take on New Caledonia. The tournament's semi-finals take place on Friday 10th July, with the final two days later.

Max is one of seven in the squad who took part in the 2013 FIFA U-20 Word Cup in Turkey and more recently was an unused substitute when the New Zealand national side lost 1-0 to South Korea in Seoul last March.
