James Roberts' injury not as bad as first feared
There was some good news for James Roberts this week with the injury he picked up at Dagenham seemingly not as serious as first feared.
The promising young striker felt a twinge in his left hamstring as he challenged for the ball near the halfway line on Saturday and was substituted immediately, receiving treatment as quickly as possible. The early prognosis is favourable and suggests that he will be back in two to three weeks.
He told us:
“It was more of a precaution than anything. I had played two full 90 minutes since coming back from the original injury and felt no problems at all. I just felt something in that challenge on Saturday and didn’t want to risk making things worse.
“It doesn’t feel anywhere near as bad as the first injury and I am hoping to be back quickly, although I’ll obviously listen to the advice from the physio and make sure that I do everything correctly throughout my rehab work.”
Roberts will miss Saturday’s home game against Southend United but Will Hoskins made his return after injury last weekend and could feature, while Patrick Hoban could figure on the bench for the first time. Hoban has trained fully for three weeks and would have played in a friendly at Thame United last night had the weather not led to the game being postponed.
