Early team news as United head for Pompey
Joe Skarz is set to return to the squad as United travel to Portsmouth in Skybet League 2 on Saturday.
The left-sided defender tweaked a hamstring in training last week and was not risked in the 3-0 win over Mansfield last weekend but joined in full training today as the U’s prepared for the game during a three day stay at Bisham Abbey.
“Joe is in with a chance” Head Coach Michael Appleton said. “He won’t be far off but we will just see how he reacts after training today. There are a couple of other knocks and bruises ; Andy Whing took a kick in the Development game on Tuesday but otherwise we are in pretty good shape.
“It’s a game we are all looking forward to. I really enjoyed my time at Portsmouth and I know there will be a tremendous atmosphere but we tend to thrive on those occasions so it should be a very good game.”
