Development Side Head for Bournemouth

26 August 2015

U's face tough test in first development game of the season

Several Oxford United players get a chance to stake their claims as a youthful Development side travel to AFC Bournemouth this afternoon.

Max Crocombe, Michael Collins, Josh Ashby, James Roberts, Aidan Hawtin and Sam Humphreys should all feature along with first year pros Freddie Grant, AJ George and Robbie Cundy. Scholars Miles Welch-Hayes and Cannice Carroll look set to complete the starting eleven, with one or two trialists and a number of the promising youngsters from the youth team also involved.

Chris Allen told us:

"Everyone trains very hard but playing matches keeps everyone sharp. There is a lot of competition for places this season in the first team and it's important that players are ready to seize their opportunity when it comes along. It's not going to be easy against a Premier League side but we are looking forward to the first Development game of the season."
