PREVIEW Cheltenham Town v Oxford United

2 September 2014

Match pack for United's trip to Cheltenham

  • Brown returns to United squad
  • Appleton weighs up options
  • Ticket and Travel details
  • Hylton 7/1 for first goal

We look ahead to Oxford United's trip to Cheltenham Town in the first round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

TEAM NEWS

Michael Appleton has almost a full squad available with Junior Brown back from his one match ban. Brown saw red in extra time at West Brom last Tuesday and missed the 3-3 draw with Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday but returns to a squad that could see one or two changes to the line-up.

Transfer Deadline Day passed without any new arrivals at the club but Will Hoskins, who arrived last week, could be in line for a first start tonight as the U’s look at their options:

“We want to do well in the competition but there are players who need games so we will get the balance right” said Michael Appleton in his Yellow Player preview. “

Michael Raynes and Jon Meades could be in line for recalls but Alex Jakubiak is away with the Scotland under 19 squad to play the Czech Republic this week.

THE OPPOSITION
Cheltenham will maybe look towards two of their new loan signings in the game tonight. John Marquis and Koby Arthur could respectively earn starting places after a busy transfer window for the Robins, with eight new players coming in. Boss Mark Yates may use the JPT as an opportunity to give some of his fringe players experience against their Sky Bet league two rivals. Joe Hanks, Jack Deaman and Omari Sterling-James may be amongst the starting line up for the home team.

BETTING

United sit at 21/10 against their league rivals but Cheltenham go in to the game in good form and are the favourites at 23/20.

Danny Hylton has got five goals so far this season and is 7/1 to grab the first goal or 12/5 to score at anytime. Summer signing Junior Brown is 11/1 to get the first goal of the game and his first U’s goal. Alfie Potter, Danny Rose and Callum O’Dowda all are at 12/1 to get the action started at Whaddon Road.

There is still plenty of time to win £5,000 for you and £250,000 for the U's to spend in the transfer window.

The Sky Bet Transfer Fund gives one fan the chance to win £250,000 for their Football League club and the winner will also receive an individual cash prize of £5,000! Just register as an Oxford fan and every £1 you bet earns one prize draw token.
