John Aldridge in the Matchday Magazine

16 October 2014

United and Tranmere legend answers readers' questions

United welcome Tranmere this Saturday (3pm) and our matchday magazine features an interview that is sure to be of interest to fans of both clubs.

John Aldridge scored 90 goals in 141 Oxford United appearances as the club rose from the third to the first division. After playing for Liverpool and Real Sociedad he then joined Tranmere, where again he set goalscoring records before becoming Rovers' manager and leading the club to the League Cup final.

We asked fans for questions to put to John for this Saturday's matchday magazine and were overwhelmed with queries, including from Tranmere and Sociedad supporters. Unfortunately we were unable to include every question but the ones we did ask received some fascinating answers when we spoke to Aldo.

The matchday magazine, which costs just £3 from sellers around the ground (with a copy of Saturday's Oxford Mail, while stocks last) includes much more, of course. Goalkeeper Ryan Clarke is the subject of our big interview, while we also have chats with Josh Ruffels and Jon Meades. We visit Luton and Iberia, while the BBC cheated with their Name Game feature, picking on Steve McClaren and his not-quite namesake Paul McLaren.

There's all the usual history, stats, features and action that you've come to expect as well as our in-depth look at our opponents.

You can buy your copy of the matchday magazine at the game on Saturday or if you're unable to be at the match read it online at www.matchdayfix.com/oufc from 1pm on Saturday afternoon (9am for subscribers). Or order it from mbrodetsky@oufc.co.uk on 01865 337523. The choice is yours but, whatever you do, don't miss out.
