Injury update as Roberts hits comeback trail
There was good news for the U’s today with striker James Roberts’ injury seemingly not as serious as first feared. The 18-year-old forward, who scored three times in his first two senior games, pulled up holding his hamstring during the second half of Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Wimbledon and was immediately helped off the pitch. However having let the injury settle down and after a couple of days of treatment it is hoped that James will be available again in around three to four weeks.
“It is already a lot better” he told us. “It was painful when it happened but we did the right thing; I got off the pitch immediately, got ice on it and Andrew Proctor the physio has been great.
“It’s the first time I’ve had anything like this but I am not going to start setting targets or trying to rush back. Even a couple of days later there has been progress so I will just listen to the advice, do what I need to do, and hopefully be back playing sooner rather than later.”
