Oxford United's AJ George called up by Antigua and Barbuda
United’s young midfielder Adriel ‘AJ’ George has received his first international call up.
17-year-old AJ, who goes into the second year of his scholarship in August, has been called in to the Antigua and Barbuda Under 20 squad for their World Cup qualifiers against host country Dominican Republic, Bermuda and Guadeloupe in a tournament to be played between 16th and 30th June.
AJ told us:
“It’s a great honour. My Mum and Dad are both from Antigua and are very proud that I have been called up. I really enjoyed my football this year and this caps a great first season.
" I am sure this will be a fantastic experience and if I can play a part and help the side qualify then that would be great.”
