Oxford United under 18s draw 1-1 with Bournemouth
United’s under 18s drew 1-1 with AFC Bournemouth at Roman Way this weekend. An early goal from winger Sam Humphreys put Chris Allen’s side ahead but as Chris told us, the second half was a different story:
“We got off to a perfect start when Sam finished off a nice move with a goal in the very first minute. We started really brightly and were on top in every area of the pitch. We should have scored more goals, we definitely had the chances.
“At half time we warned the lads that Bournemouth would come at us more but to just keep doing the things they had been doing and they would win the game. Unfortunately it became that old cliché ‘a game of two halves’. Bournemouth started to get on top, equalised with a decent hit and we had to defend well.
“There wasn’t a lot to choose between the teams over the 90 minutes but the lesson to learn is to kill games off when you are on top early on."
