Name The Bar

Yellow Army asks fans to vote for the name of the bar

Oxford United fans - the Yellow Army - are invited to vote now on the new name for the supporters' match-day bar.

The bar, situated in the South Stand, is being re-named next season as part of new plans by the Yellow Army.

After a great response from fellow fans for name ideas, the suggestions have been totted up and the overwhelming top three are:

  • Bar 86
  • The Manor Bar
  • Moody's

Fans now have until 6pm on Wednesday July 9 to vote for their favourite name for the bar.

You can vote via any of the following mediums:

●By Tweeting your choice to the Yellow Army Twitter feed @YellowArmyOUFC
●By leaving a post on the Yellow Army Facebook page.

The Yellow Army raises funds to improve the match-day experience and to financially support the Youth and Community Trust and the bar forms an important focal point for many fans on a match-day.

Greig Box Turnbull, of the Yellow Army, said: "The bar is for us, the fans, so it's fantastic that we're being given the chance to have a say in what it is called. All three on the shortlist are worthy of being the name of our supporters' bar, so it will be interesting to see which one wins the vote."

Joe Nicholls, added: "Having a decent bar to meet up in on a match-day is an important part of the day for a lot of fans, so we're keen to make this bar as good as we can. Being able to give it a name that really symbolises the history of Oxford United will help make it feel more like home."

The venue, previously called the12th Man Bar, improved greatly last season, with the introduction of a Q&A with former U's players, the display of iconic United photos and the presentation of the man of the match award taking place in the bar. The club also benefits from a revenue share agreement with the stadium company, meaning a percentage of the profits goes back into helping the club.

The Yellow Army shop and Michael North's programme stall is located in the bar before every home game - with all profits ploughed back into Yellow Army initiatives to support the club.

The bar is free for season ticket holders and £1 for all other guests.
