Torquay Preview

24 January 2014

We look forward to Oxford United v Torquay United at the Kassam Stadium

United welcome Torquay United  to the Kassam Stadium tomorrow  (3pm) in  Sky Bet League 2. Here we present a full guide to the game.

Team News
United will be without Dave Kitson once again as he recovers from a troublesome ankle injury, although the experienced striker is hoping to be fit for the trip to Exeter on Tuesday evening.

Nicky Wroe, cup-tied for the FA Cup game against Charlton in midweek, comes back into the squad against his former club while Danny Rose and Ryan Williams will be pushing for recalls after missing the Charlton game.

See Mickey Lewis previewing the game in Yellow Player right now where we also have a great Preview Show featuring Johnny Mullins and Chris Allen.

The Opposition

There is a familiar face in the Torquay dug-out as former United captain Chris Hargreaves returns as Gulls Manager. Hargreaves enjoyed two spells as a player at the Kassam Stadium and has returned to Torquay as Boss after a spell at AFC Bournemouth

‘’They are a big club, great set-up and a big game for us,’’ he told Torquay's official website. ‘’I wanted to go back to Oxford at the end of my playing career and managed to right a wrong. When we went down at Oxford, it was turmoil off the pitch and that leads to turmoil on the pitch, it was a bad time but I’ve learned from it, and I’ll be doing my very best to make sure it doesn’t happen here.

‘’We’re building the right type of blocks for the future here and I know that already. I can’t guarantee anything but all I can say is we’re trying to put things in place for us to achieve.

‘’I went to the Charlton game in the FA Cup on Tuesday but I think Oxford may play a different system tomorrow. Charlton are very good in possession and a Championship side, so Oxford tweaked their formation a couple of times.

‘’It was a tight game until Charlton scored and we know we’re facing a tough team, but we’re a good team as well.’’
