Reaction from Oxford United's trip to Newport County in Sky Bet league 2

Newport Verdict

Goals from James Constable and Alfie Potter were not enough to keep United's unbeaten record intact as they lost 3-2 at Newport last night. Here's the reaction and verdict

Mickey Lewis

“We put pressure on them late on and had chances in injury time but in truth we didn't deserve anything out of the game. Newport played better than us on the night and we are naturally disappointed. We went for it late on, but come away with nothing and there are no excuses.

"We have been on a fantastic run away from home, and more importantly were eight games unbeaten before last night so now we need to get that sort of run going again. We have eight away games left this season and will do everything we can to get another run started at Morecambe on Saturday.

The Opposition View

Newport Boss Justin Edinburgh

"It is a massive win but thoroughly deserved. It is nice to be playing back at home, we have had five in six [games ]away from home.I don't think people realise in our last 11 games that nine of them have been away from home. For where we are and the position we are in, I think the players have been fantastic.

"It has been a tough time for the football club and we have been laughed about but I see Crawley's game is off and I don't know whether they have had a letter from the Football League. It's just good to play here [home] in front of a fantastic crowd and have a fantastic performance."
