Development Side Beat Wimbledon

O'Dowda, Lynn and Lee on the mark for young U's

United’s Development Squad won again this afternoon as they overcame AFC Wimbledon 3-2.

Goals from Callum O’Dowda, David Lynn and Kenzer Lee saw United’s under 21 side overcome a similar Wimbledon side, managed by former United coach Shaun North. 18-year-old striker George Oakley scored both Wimbledon goals.

The Development Squad was established this season to allow young players to bridge the gap between youth team football and first team football and has already borne fruit with six of the team having appeared in the first team

Chris Allen took charge of the side, with the first team in action at Newport this evening, and told us:

“It was another really encouraging performance. The lads have looked stronger with every game this season and played some good stuff. Wimbledon made it a proper test and it will all be good experience for the players from both sides.”
