New Boys on the Mark as Development Side Beat Villa

Another impressive performance from United's youngsters

Oxford United’s Development side won 3-0 this afternoon in an away friendly against a talented young Aston Villa side.

United used the game to look at their own youngsters plus new arrivals Chey Dunkley and John Campbell who both got their names on the scoresheet along with winger Sam Humphreys, fresh from his first appearance on the first team bench last Saturday.

Coach Micky Lewis said:

“I thought the attitude was spot on once again. We have put in some very impressive performances this season and were up against a good young Villa side today.

“Sam Humphreys scored a really good goal to put us 1-0 up and then Chey and John got their first goals for the club too. They both played 90 minutes and did well and I’ll also give a special mention to Josh Ashby and Josh Ruffels in midfield because they both had very strong games.

“The result’s not important, it’s attitude and performances that you’re looking for and I thought we showed plenty of character as well as ability today.”
