Update as Hoban picks up ankle injury

Patrick Hoban looks like being out of action for some weeks after United’s new signing damaged ankle ligaments in training.

The Irish striker recently agreed to sign from Dundalk and although unable to play until January he was able to train with the first team as usual.

Unfortunately he landed awkwardly on his ankle in training towards the end of last week and scans have shown ligament damage that is likely to keep him on the sidelines until February rather than the start of the New Year.
Head Coach Michael Appleton said:

“We all feel for Patrick. He has settled in really well, was doing well in training and then just went up for a header and came down on his ankle. There was nobody near him, it was just one of those things, and we got him in for a scan as soon as we could.

“He’s a strong lad and will come back fit and raring to go but for now we just have to wait and see how that injury settles down.”
