Early team news ahead of Tuesday's FA Cup second round replay with Tranmere

United travel to Tranmere on Tuesday evening in the FA Cup second round replay following their 2-2 draw at the Kassam Stadium 10 days ago.

Michael Appleton knows he will have to make changes to the side that beat Bury on Saturday with goal scorer Tyrone Barnett returning to Peterborough United and winger Wes Burns cup-tied. Barnett scored both goals in the first encounter.

Oxford will still be without injured strike duo James Roberts and Will Hoskins who both returned to training this morning. With John Campbell and Cheyenne Dunkley also both cup-tied there will be the opportunty for others to stake their claim.

Danny Hylton could take over from Barnett in the striking role, while Alfie Potter and Callum O'Dowda both stand by to to come into the starting line-up. Youngsters Josh Ashby and Sam Humphreys could feature on the bench.

Appleton said:

"We will probably know their team more than they will know ours, because of the amount of people we have got cup-tied, so they're probably going to have to second guess what we do a little bit more than we will have to them."
