Chris Allen pleased as United youngsters start the right way
United’s under 18’s started their Football League Youth Alliance campaign with a well-deserved 3-1 win at home to Cheltenham Town on Saturday. Two goals from striker Luke Hastings and a goal from Kieran Andrews gave the U’s the perfect start to the season, as Coach Chris Allen told us:
“It’s always good to get that first win under your belts. Every side is in the same boat at the moment where you have a lot of first year scholars coming into the team and making that adjustment to what is expected at this level. The new lads did well and we took our chances and deserved the three points.
“We might have scored a couple more but the main thing was to be nice and sharp after all the hard work in pre-season and I thought this was a very encouraging performance.”
The youth team are next in action away at Torquay United this coming Saturday, kick off 11am
