TEAM NEWS

Oxford United have a clean bill of health as they look to get their league season up and running against Portsmouth at the Kassam Stadium.

Defeats on the road this week at Mansfield and Morecambe have left the U's still searching for that first win and head Coach Michael Appleton is hoping that it comes against one of his former clubs:

"There are no new injuries to worry about and Andy Whing and Ryan Clarke are ahead of schedule and doing well" he told Yellow Player. "It's a game I am really looking forward to. I enjoyed my time at Portsmouth although it was in very difficult circumstances. The fans are great down there and there are some good people behind the scenes. The team have started well so we know it won't be easy but we have played some good stuff ourselves this season without getting our reward. Provided everyone stays positive then the results will come, hopefully on Saturday."

THE OPPOSITION
With seven points from three games, plus a Capital One Cup win over Peterborough, Portsmouth have made a flying start to the season under the watchful eye of Manager Andy Awford, a familiar face to Oxford fans. Andy spent a year at the Kassam Stadium as assistant to Jim Smith and he is looking forward to returning to the U's tomorrow, while also wary of the U's:

‘It’s early in the season" he said. ‘They have got a new management team that has gone in and new players so it will take time to gel.

‘Oxford is a good club. I had a year there myself working with Jim Smith and I really enjoyed it.

‘I’m looking forward to going back and seeing some old faces but obviously we are trying to put one over on them.’

Tickets are always cheaper in advance and can be ordered from 01865 337533 or via www.oufctickets.co.uk

Loom to the Moon
We’d like to help Skye Hall to Loom to the Moon tomorrow. Skye is a brave little boy from Abingdon who has been battling cancer since last year and wants to set a world record challenge by collecting enough loom bands to reach the moon. If you can loom then help us by looming as far as you can reach and bring them along to Saturday's game.

Bring them in to the game and we will collect them at a special collection point in front of the South Stand, situated between the new matchday shop and the revolving doors.

Getting Here
With roadworks around the Heyford Hill and Kennington roundabouts fans are advised to leave an extra 15 minutes for their journeys. BBC Oxford (95.2FM) will have traffic updates throughout the morning.

The Football Special Buses are running again and offer cheap and easy transport to all league games PLEASE NOTE: pre-match buses will depart 25 minutes earlier under the new timetables introduced while the roadworks are in place. For a full list of timetables and routes click HERE
