Oxford United Sign Carlton Morris from Norwich City

4 August 2014

United add Carlton Morris to squad ahead of season opener

Oxford United are pleased to announce the signing of Striker Carlton Morris on an initial 6-month loan from Norwich City.

Morris, 18, is a highly-rated striker at Carrow Road, helping the club win the FA Youth Cup in 2012/13 and earning himself a two and a half year deal with the Canaries. The tall powerful forward  has earned England under 18 honours and is looking forward to joining The U’s

“It is a great chance for me” he said. “I have played all my football at Norwich so far but I am looking forward to testing myself. Oxford are a good club and I know they are very ambitious so I want to come here, train hard and play regular, competitive football in a successful side.”

Head Coach Michael Appleton welcomed Carlton to Oxford, saying:

“Carlton had a number of clubs looking at him and I think it speaks volumes for Oxford United that he has chosen to come here when other clubs were chasing his services.

“He is big and strong, technicaly very  good, and he is a decent finisher so we are excited to have him here. We have always said that we will wait until the right payer is available, someone we believe will strengthen what we already have, and Carlton fits the bill perfectly.

"We will though continue our efforts to bring in further attacking options before the transfer window closes."

Carlton will go straight into the squad for United’s opening home league game this Saturday when they welcome Burton Albion to the Kassam Stadium. Tickets are available from 01865 337533 and www.oufctickets.co.uk
