Morecambe v Oxford United Match Preview

19 August 2014

A full guide as The U's head for the Globe Arena

We look ahead to Oxford United's trip to Morecambe in Sky Bet League 2.

TEAM NEWS

United have no new injury worries as they head for the league leaders tonight. Long term absentees Ryan Clarke and Andy Whing continue to make good progress but are still at least six weeks away from a return to contention. Michael Raynes is fully fit again after landing awkwardly in the first game of the season against Burton and could return to the starting eleven as Michael Appleton looks for his first league win.

Alex Jakubiak impressed as a sub at Mansfield on Saturday and could be handed a full debut while Josh Ruffels also did well as a sub and could return to the side.

See Micky Lewis previewing the game and talking about the selection options in Yellow Player, where we also have a great Preview Show featuring Jon Meades.

THE OPPOSITION
Jim Bentley's men stormed to a 3-2 win over Newport at the weekend the hard way after going 2-0 down. “We were very poor in the first half" Bentley told the Lancashire Evening Post.“I don’t want to be going through the season as England’s comeback kings again but credit where credit’s due. There were a few stern words and a couple of changes at half-time.

“Then we went about our jobs in the manner we know we can do and we ran out winners. It was a fantastic game of two halves. We all know in Morecambe if someone puts that wind machine on down at the prom it can have an effect on the game.  I expect a little bit more desire.”
