We look ahead to Saturday's big game
We look ahead to Oxford United's trip to Mansfield Town in Sky Bet League 2.TEAM NEWS
United welcome George Long back into the squad as they travel to Mansfield Town on Saturday. The Sheffield United goalkeeper is ineligible in the Capital One Cup under the terms of his loan but comes back into comntention as United look to build on their win at Bristol City on Tuesday night.
Long competes with Max Crocombe for the goalkeeper position while Watford youngster Alex Jakubiak is included for the first time. The 17-year-old striker may feature on the bench, although United are monitoring Carlton Morris's fitness after he suffered a dead leg at Ashton Gate. Josh Ruffels suffered a similar injury and is a doubt but Michael Raynes is making excellent progress after a neck injury and could come back ito the squad.
See Michael Appleton previewing the game and talking about the selection options in Yellow Player, where we also have a great Preview Show featuring Alex Jakubiak, Alfie Potter and Andy Whing.
THE OPPOSITION
There are plenty of familiar faces in the Mansfeld squad: John Dempster, Ryan Tafazoli, midfielders Adam Murray and Simon Heslop and striker Alex Fisher have all had spells at the U's and Fisher will be out to impress after scoring his first goal for the club at Sheffield United in midweek.
Fisher is likely to lead the line since the Stags are withouth the suspended Matt Rhead, while Ollie Palmer and Liam Hearn are rated very doubtful. Defender Martin Riley is also a doubt, having been forced off in the latter stages of Wednesday’s clash at Bramall Lane with a suspected groin injury.
