Youth team Lose Out

Under 18s beaten at Bristol Rovers

United’s under 18s ended their season with a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers on Saturday. Knowing that a win would seal the league title the under 18's’ loss now means that either Rovers or Exeter City will win the division.

Chris Allen told us:

“It gutting for us all and the lads were really disappointed. They shouldn’t be really because they have had a great season. They were in with a chance of winning the league, they had a strong FA Youth Cup run and there have been some fantastic performances both individually and as a team.

“We knew it was going to be a tight game against Rovers and the first half hour was very close. The difference on the day was that Rovers took advantage of their key moments and we didn’t. We had chances but when they got one after about half an hour they scored it and then we needed to chase the game.

“In the second half we kept going at them but no question the better side on the day won the game. It was a very quiet bus on the way home. It is all about development and progress rather than results but what we need to have is a winning mentality, an attitude that we take the opportunity when the big moments come.”
