Six trialists in Development game at Colchester

A very inexperienced United Development side lost 4-0 at Colchester United in a friendly this afternoon as United looked at options for next season.

Matt Bevans was the only player included to have played for the first team this season although Jon Meades will be hoping for an opportunity to show what he can do after coming through another 90 minutes today after injury.

Development Squad regular Josh Shama and youth teamers Freddie Grant and Sam Humphreys were joined by no fewer than six trialists in the game and Mickey Lewis told us:

“It was a chance to look at one or two players again after they played last week and there were some new faces as well. You can see a lot in training but it is always good to see them in a competitive game as well.  The scoreline was a little bit harsh but the result wasn’t that important in a game like this.”
