Head Coach Gary Waddock looks forward to Oxford United's last game of the season
United look to finish their season on a high as they travel to Northampton Town on Saturday.
The U’s will be backed by a sold-out away end at Sixfields as home side Northampton look to gain the final point they need to definitely avoid the drop, and new Head Coach Gary Waddock is looking for his side to show their true character on what could be a dramatic last day:
“I think I made it quite clear on Saturday how I felt, and to move forward decisions have to be made, but on Saturday we will go to Northampton looking for a result and a performance” Gary told Yellow Player.
“Other clubs are fighting for their lives so we have to make sure that we do it the right way, and we will. We will take a big following up there. Our fans wanted to go there with us looking to get in the play-offs but unfortunately that’s not going to happen for us, so we have to make sure we go and get a result for them on Saturday. Forget everything else, the most important thing is to get a result for our football club.”
“We want to go into the summer in a positive frame of mind and put a stop to the run of results that we have had. Then we can sit down, look at the squad and make some big decisions. The biggest thing in my mind is to make sure that when we go out there on Saturday it is the best eleven to try and win us a football match.
“I stand by what I said on Saturday, there needs to be a change of culture and a winning mentality here, but Saturday gives everyone another opportunity to show that.”
