Accrington Preview

25 April 2014

A full guide as Oxford United welcome Accrington Stanley in Sky Bet League 2

United welcome Accrington Stanley to the Kassam Stadium tomorrow (3pm) in Sky Bet League 2. Here we present a full guide to the game.

Team News
United need a win to have any chance of keeping their play-off hopes alive. Five points behind York City with two games left, United know that only maximum points will do and Manager Gary Waddock told us:

"We will play to the end. There is still a chance so we have to go for it. First and foremost I want a win. Things haven't gone our way and I want the players to react and show that they want to be part of what we are trying to build here."

See Gary Waddock previewing the game in Yellow Player right now where we also have a great Preview Show with new pros James Roberts and Sam Humphreys ahead of the game

The Opposition
Accrington need one more point to be assured of safety this season and boss James Beattie is urging his team not to think the job is yet over:

“I think the job is almost done although we won’t take anything for granted and we will be working hard as we want to get the results the boys deserve in the final two games" the former Everton striker  said."“I think we have been in every game this season, except Newport on the opening day, whether we have won, lost or drawn.

“That’s credit to the boys and their rise especially after four points in the opening 12 games.”

Be well read...
The Matchday Magazine is another winner with 84 pages packed full with all things Oxford.

First and foremost, this edition completes the spine image that has built up match by match throughout the season. It's taken nine months but your patience is finally rewarded with a great memento of the season.

Inside the magazine we have a full-length exclusive interview with the ever-optimistic Michael Raynes, who gives us the low-down on the players' perspective of the end to the season. There is the final edition of our squad numbers feature, which this week reaches number 24, while regular contributors Fantastic Mr Ox and Emrys Hughes have both written fascinating articles. We list possible additions to the Oxford United Hall of Fame while our regular On the Road piece summarises the best and worst of our travels over the past few months.

You can buy the magazine on Saturday from sellers around the ground for just £3 (with a copy of the Oxford Mail while stocks last) or download it from www.matchdayfix.com/oufc from 1pm on Saturday (or 9am if you're a subscriber).

Coverage
If you’re unable to make it to the match we’ll have full commentary live on Yellow Player, as well as video interviews with all the major players and highlights. Yellow Player is the ONLY place on the internet that you can hear the game online; join us for all the action.

Betting

United  are 6/5 favourites to get the win.

There has been plenty of speculation on whether James Constable can break the club's all time scoring record. He is currently 5/1 to open the scoring or score the last goal and an attractive 8/1 to score the two goals that he needs to overtake Graham Atkinson's 107 record.

He is also 22/1 to score the game's only goal, 33/1 to score first in a 2-0 victory and 66/1 for the first goal in a 3-1 win.
