Stonesfield Strikers regional winners of FA Community Awards

Oxford United Partner Club Stonesfield Strikers Youth Football Club have been named as regional winners of the 2013 FA Community Awards by The FA and their Community Partner, McDonald’s.

The Oxfordshire Football Association selected Stonesfield Strikers for “The FA Charter Standard Club Award” for 2013 in recognition of their commitment to grassroots football.

As Oxfordshire winners, the Oxfordshire FA put the club forward to a judging panel of Regional FA and McDonald’s representatives. They went on to select Stonesfield Strikers as “Charter Standard Club of the Year” for the South East England region.

Stonesfield Strikers received both prestigious awards at the Oxfordshire FA’s annual awards ceremony held in Witney on Monday evening. The awards were presented by Oxford United assistant manager Mickey Lewis and youth team manager Chris Allen, with Geoff Booth (coach), Paul Charles (chairman) and Dave Holloway (vice-chairman) receiving them on behalf of Stonesfield.

Paul Charles, club chairman, said ‘Stonesfield Strikers are delighted to be named as 2013 Regional Charter Standard Club of the Year. Our volunteers work exceptionally hard to maintain very high standards as we develop young players to be the best they can be in an environment that encourages fun, friendship, fairness and respect.  This is fantastic recognition from The FA and I congratulate everyone who has contributed to our success!’
