Calvin and Hackett on the mark as United win again

United’s Youth team went top of their league with a 2-0 win at Cheltenham Town on Saturday.

The under 18s made it four  wins in a row as goals from Greg Hackett and Jamie Calvin gave Chris Allen’s side the three points.

Chris told us:

“It was a very good game and it started off with real tempo, as you would expect. They got in behind us, we got in behind them and both sides were playing some good stuff.

“After the first 25 minutes or so we started to settle and win our tackles in midfield, and we began to press them and get on top of the game. The first goal came from some really good work down the left and Greg Hackett put in a good ball for Jamie Calvin to finish well into the bottom corner.

“We were without James Roberts who has an ankle injury that will keep him out for a couple of weeks  so Greg moved into the middle and having set up the first he scored the second when Sam Humphreys did well, Jamie came short and Greg got in behind the defence to finish well and make it 2-0.

“It was a good all round team performance and we were very pleased with the lads. We have just got on a bit of a roll now and will be looking to try and build on this result and keep things going.”
