Chris Looks Forward to Accrington

18 October 2013

We talk about consistency and now it's important we build on last week

United head for Accrington this weekend looking to take up were they left off after a good 2-0 win over Northampton Town last Saturday. The U’s are third in the table and face an Accrington side still looking for their first win, but as Manager Chris Wilder told Yellow Player United will take absolutely nothing for granted:

“Adie Boothroyd called us dangerous opponents last week because we hadn’t won at home for a couple of games and we are viewing this game in the same vein really. Accrington will win a game and we just have to make sure it’s not on Saturday.

“The players have been good this week, the attitude has been spot on and we always talk about consistency. Now it’s important that we go and build on a good home win last Saturday.”

United will be without long term absentee Jon Meades who is recovering from an ankle injury while forward Alfie Potter misses a second game but will be back in training next week:

“Everybody came through last week so we will just miss Jon Meades and Alfie who won’t travel, but we are really hopeful that he will be back for the Wimbledon game the week after” Chris said.

United travel north today and will stay overnight near Accrington as they get their pre-game preparations right once again:

“We prepare the same home and away and we are thorough in the way we do that. Regardless of the league table, form, suspensions or injuries you have to be professional and go about the process in the same way. These three points are just as important as the first day where we went to Portsmouth” Chris said.
