Oxfordshire Sports Award nominate Oxford United Women's side
The Oxford United Women’s team are very pleased to have been shortlisted for Sports Team of the Year for the 2013 Oxfordshire Sports Awards
The women’s team enjoyed a fantastic 2013, winning their league and the county cup and attracting almost 1,000 supporters to the Kassam Stadium for a prestigious FA Cup game against Everton. Their remarkable progress meant that they will play in the newly established WSL2 for the coming season, while a successful Academy system allows young female footballers the chance to progress from the age group sides into the successful first team.
The Oxfordshire Sports Awards recognise and celebrate the wealth of talent and dedication seen in sport and physical activity across the county and the Awards ceremony is taking place on Friday 29th November at the Kassam Stadium.
Richard Blackmore, Manager of the Women’s team said:
“We are very proud to have been shortlisted. The players and coaches have worked very hard over the last 12 months and to be nominated for an award is a great honour.”
The Women’s team will be up against the Oxford City Stars ice hockey team and Chinnor Rugby Club’s 2nd XV in their category.
