United take on Oxford City in Senior Cup Final
United's young stars get the chance to shine tonight as they face Oxford City in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup final at the Kassam Stadium (7.45pm).Max Crocombe and Ty Marsh will start with new pros Callum O'Dowda and Sam Long joining them. Youth team players such as midfielder Josh Ashby and James Roberts will also be involved as United's youngsters pit their wits against several players who played for the U's in the past. Oxford City boss Mike Ford, a Manor Ground legend, can choose from former United players Steve Basham, Chris Willmott, Jamie Cook, Declan Benjamin and Andy Gunn.
The U's will include several senior players as they look to end the season with a win.
United had to overcome Chinnor and Banbury United to reach the final, whereas City beat Bletchingdon and Thame United en route to the Kassam. City compete in their second successive final, having lost heavily to North Leigh in last season's tournament. The last time that the U's played the Hoops in the Senior Cup final was in 2005, when United triumphed 3-1 thanks to two goals from Billy Beechers and one from Craig Davies. Astonishingly, that was the first time the sides had met in the OSC Final since 1948 when Headington United won 1-0.
Admission for tonight's game is £8 adults and £4 concessions, which includes a matchday programme. Come along to the Kassam Stadium to join us for what is always an enjoyable evening.
Yellow Player will feature full commentary on the game while @OUFClive will be tweeting throughout to the official Twitter feed's 11,000 followers. Full report right here at the final whistle.
