Full details of players to be retained or released
Oxford United have announced their retained list for next season.
Following on from yesterday’s news that young goalkeeper Max Crocombe and striker Tyrone Marsh have been offered new contracts, the club are also pleased to announce that they will be taking up an option which will see Andy Whing and Alfie Potter staying with the U’s. Whing has starred in midfield since returning after injury while Potter has enjoyed his most successful season to date, with eleven goals.
Meanwhile, midfielder Scott Davies and striker Deane Smalley have been offered new deals. Davies, the Aylesbury-based former Reading, Wycombe and Crawley player, was previously on a short term contract until the end of the season. Smalley has had a new one year contract put in front of him, having impressed after coming back from injury earlier in the season.
The club will talk to defender Luke O’Brien over the next few weeks with an eye to keeping the former Bradford and Exeter defender at the club next season.
At the same time, some very hard decisions have needed to be made and Luke McCormick, Damian Batt, Michael Duberry, Harry Worley, Liam Davis, Tony Capaldi, Simon Heslop, Peter Leven, Josh Parker, Tom Craddock, Jon-Paul Pittman and Justin Richards have all been told that they will not be offered new contracts.
The club would like to thank those players for their commitment and hard work for Oxford United and wish them well for the future.
