Keeper plays his part as New Zealand qualify
The club received some great news this week as goalkeeper Max Crocombe, who is currently with the New Zealand Under 20 squad in Fiji helped his national side qualify for the Under 20 FIFA World Cup tournament this summer in Turkey.
Max was delighted as he kept a clean sheet in New Zealand’s final game, as they beat host nation of the qualifiers Fiji four nil to top their group and qualify for the tournament, which see’s New Zealand placed in a potentially tough looking group along with Croatia, Uruguay and Uzbekistan.
Along the way the under 20’s beat Papua New Guinea five nil, Vanuatu one nil and New Caledonia three two to progress.
Max told us:
"It has been a fantastic experience and I have really enjoyed it. I have been made to feel really welcome and qualifying for the next stage is great for us all. Hopefully I did well enough to be considered for selection in Turkey this summer."
