Full Preview as United welcome the Spireites

We look ahead to this Saturday's big home match against Chesterfield.

Team News
United look to continue where they left off on Tuesday when they welcome Chesterfield to the Kassam Stadium (3pm). After Tuesday's dramatic late win against Barnet the U's are in red-hot form and looking to close the gap on the play-off sides above them.

United will still be without left back Tony Capaldi who is ruled out with a back injury picked up during the win at Plainmoor last Saturday, but have Liam Davis back in the squad after illness. Lewis Montrose is still unavailable due to an ongoing hamstring problem, joining long-term absentees Peter Leven, Justin Richards and Ryan Clarke in the treatment room but United received a  boost to their attacking options this week with the return of striker Jon-Paul Pittman to full first team training.the former Wycombe striker has come through a full week of full training without any problems and assistant manager Mickey Lewis said that he would very much be in the managements plans as United enter the final phase of the season.

Wayne Brown will be on the bench as goalkeeping cover with Max Crocombe now with the New Zealand under 20 squad for their World Cup qualifying games in Fiji.

See  Mickey Lewis and striker James Constable previewing the game in Yellow Player along with yet another excellent full preview show.

The Opposition
Chesterfield manager Paul Cook is anticipating a tough afternoon despite a 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers last weekend.

Cook told http://www.chesterfield-fc.co.uk “When you go to Oxford, for you to come away with a result there, you’re going to have to play well. It’s about us turning up on Saturday, playing well and representing our supporters in a correct and proper manner.

“If we do that I believe we can win the game.”

Experienced striker Jack Lester and french forward Armand Gnanduillet look set to start up front for the Spireites with Tendayi Darikwa and Drew Talbot pressing for returns after missing out due to injury and illness.
