Nice One Cyril

Former United full-back Cyril Beavon is tomorrow's Guest of Honour

We welcome former United legend Cyril Beavon to the Kassam Stadium tomorrow as he is our Guest of Honour for the game against Dagenham & Redbridge.

Cyril was manager Arthur Turner's first signing, when he joined Headington United from Wolves in January 1959. He spent over a decade at the club and made over 500 appearances for the U's. He is the subject of a fascinating question and answer session in tomorrow's matchday magazine, in which he tells us that his father-in-law told him "once you got to Headington you wouldn't want to leave it - and he was right! I'm still living here after all this time."

Cyril was with United from the Southern League through to Division Two of the Football League, and he tells us that the ingredients for a successful promotion-winning side are "a solid defence, a good midfield and strikers who can score goals. I think Oxford have got this now and I think they'll go up."

Come along and listen to Cyril in the 12th Man Bar from 1.30pm and read the full interview with him in the matchday magazine, available around the ground for just £3 or online at www.matchdayfix.com/oufc.
