Fans back the U's as season tickets go on sale
'United We Stand ' was the message when season ticket details were announced on Saturday, and that was the message coming back from supporters as Season Tickets for the 2013/14 season went on sale yesterday.
The ticket office sold the first season ticket to Mr Wright of the South Stand Upper soon after tickets went on sale at 9.30 yesterday, and the phones were busy all day as fans booked their seat for next season.
A number of fans came along in person to be among the first to purchase their tickets; young fan Josh Such enjoyed a tour of the ground for being among the first in line for his very first season ticket.
The season tickets include some great new benefits and incorporate many of the ideas suggested by fans in an online survey and in consultation with Supporters Trust Oxvox.
Oxvox Chairman Mark Sennett said:
"OxVox has supplied suggestions for season ticket and match ticket prices and packages.
"These suggestions were approved at our AGM and published on our website in March. We were pleased that not only did the club review these suggestions, but also came back to us for further feedback once it started to formulate its plans.
"It’s good to see that a number of our suggestions were incorporated into the packages on offer for season tickets. This includes the removal of the £5 booking fee, the creation of additional benefits such as discounts on yellow player, programme subscription, and on replica shirts.
"We understand that not all of our suggestions were incorporated but we’re glad to see that the club valued our input. We are especially pleased to see particular focus being given to improving the matchday experience. The creation of a supporters' bar is something we have campaigned for over a number of years. We are also delighted to have been invited to play a pivotal role in the running of this bar.
"One of the points we asked the club to consider was to freeze season ticket prices, which it has done for the last three years. This has not happened and we can understand the reasons why. But we are pleased the club has reduced season ticket prices for under 12s in the family area. The club has also implemented our suggestion to create reduced prices for 16-18 year olds.
"Season tickets offer great value to fans who attend home matches regularly and this year they contain more additional benefits than before. The club is targeting promotion and we expect big changes this summer. Hopefully as many fans as possible will buy season tickets and will be rewarded by being part of a successful season."
