Bad weather leads to postponement
Oxford United’s 6-A-Side Tournament scheduled for the bank holiday weekend of May 5th and 6th has been postponed due to an unprecedented number of local league fixtures falling on that weekend. The adverse weather conditions this winter have affected football not only at the professional level but down through the grassroot community. This has led to many rearranged fixtures falling on that weekend and local teams still having to compete in their respective leagues.
Tournament Organiser James Peterson said "Obviously we are very disappointed to have to postpone the tournament but I am sure everyone is well aware of how disruptive the weather has been over the past few months. After speaking with the secretaries from each local league it will suit everyone involved if we push the event back so we do not interfere with any league fixtures. At the end of the day we want to make this a great family outing so we will do what we can to accommodate everyone.”
