United's manager and captain up for awards
Oxford United's excellent start to the npower League 2 campaign this season has been recognised by the Football League, with both Chris Wilder and Jake Wright nominated for awards.Chris Wilder has been nominated for the npower League 2 Manager of the Month award for August, along with Gillingham's Martin Allen and Paul Tisdale of Exeter. Wilder oversaw United win all three league games in the month, as well as a penalties win in the Capital One Cup first round against League 1 Bournemouth.
Meanwhile, U's skipper Jake Wright has been put forward for the npower League 2 Player of the Month award for August. Anyone who saw Jake's performances in defence for United will not be surprised at his nomination, given his commitment to the cause. The other nominations are Ian Dunbavin of Accrington Stanley and Myles Weston of Gillingham.
The winners for both categories will be announced this Friday, 14th September.
