Mickey Lewis looks forward to Rotherham

United look to bounce back as they travel to Rotherham tomorrow. The U’s know they need a win, but First Team Coach Mickey Lewis believes there is enough quality and belief in the squad to come back from the New York Stadium with all three points.

“Everyone is really disappointed and a run of games where you are losing is not good for anybody,” Mickey told Yellow Player.

“But this is still the same group of players who won three games in a row, beat Bournemouth, and beat Swindon. We have a young team and the only time they looked deflated was against Bradford. That is when you miss your experienced players a bit. It’s not just their ability but also their calming influence.

“But we just have to get on with it, and we have had a really positive week. We had a meeting on Sunday, not as a punishment but we just felt we had to have the meeting as soon as possible and not wait until Monday. It was a good clear-the-air meeting, very positive and we are all looking to put things right. The lads are chomping at the bit to turn it around.

“It’s a tough game. They are a really good side and people are expecting them to do well. At this point in the season there are only three points between us and them I think, four points between us and the play-offs. It’s just so early. We want to pick up wins as soon as we can, and anyone can beat anyone in this league. Rotherham are a good side, but we are a good side as well.”
