Chris Wilder looks forward to Saturday

After the long trip to Rochdale on Tuesday night the U’s make one of their shortest trips of the season tomorrow as they head for Wycombe Wanderers. The U’s will take a large away following to Adams Park and Manager Chris Wilder believes that a local derby will mean he doesn’t have to stoke up his players too much:

“It takes care of itself and I’m really looking forward to it. We will take a lot of supporters down there and it will be a really good atmosphere” Chris told Yellow Player.

United beat Accrington 5-0 a week ago, then played well at Spotland on Tuesday without getting a positive result, something which the Manager is not happy about:

“I should be talking about another win, but we have talked about why we didn’t win a game that we dominated. I am fine with the performance generally but not fine with the result. If we can do that to Rochdale, a side tipped to be one of the teams that mount a challenge then we can do that to anybody. The Wycombe game is a different challenge, no team is the same, but if we stick to our principles as we have done in the last two games then I am sure that we can go there and win.”

United welcome skipper Jake Wright back in place of the suspended Michael Raynes and are starting to get everybody fit after a fairly horrific injury list. Chris believes that with the league table still so tight his side has the ability to start moving up the standings:

“When everyone is fully match fit and fully flying then we will be in the mix, no doubt about it. We are coming from a difficult position, it’s not ideal, but we have enough about us in terms of desire and quality and good players to climb the league and be in the mix when it matters.

“Nothing is handed out in October but it’s an important time against teams that are in and around us. If you look at the league table and see what a win would have done for us on Tuesday night; it would have put us into tenth place. So we have to claw three points back from somewhere, and hopefully we can do that on Saturday.”
