Chris Wilder talks to Yellow Player
Chris Wilder was all smiles after last night’s 4-2 win over Cheltenham Town in the second round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
He told Yellow Player. “It was a good night for us and a good night for the football club in a lot of ways. First of all progression in the competition, and then you’re looking at Worley, Leven and Whing back, Chapman in the middle of the park, Constable and Craddock scoring, and good performances all round from everybody.
“It was a really positive night for us. Regarding the application of the players, people look and go ‘Tuesday night at Cheltenham - it’s a bit different to a Wednesday night against Swindon when there’s eight or nine thousand people there - what’s the attitude of the players going to be?’ We came from behind twice and played some really good stuff.
One thing that’s not been lacking for United over the past few weeks is the team spirit, and the manager was keen to emphasise the part that played in last night’s win:
“You could see the reaction when we scored, that we’re all together, and the reaction at half-time when they were talking about pulling it around and that’s vital if you going to do something. They’ve done themselves proud and I’m delighted for the support that we’ve brought along here tonight as well.”
