First ever courses at Stonesfield this week

While Oxford United’s first team was preparing for their match against Wycombe Wanderers, several Oxford community coaches were braving the cold elements up in Stonesfield on Saturday as part of the Stonesfield Striker Fun Day.

Over 70 young players turned out for the morning session where they took part in a fun warm up exercise followed by several football games. This was shortly followed by small sided matches for all the teams to cap off the all-around great day.

Stonesfield Strikers were announced as a grassroot football club in September and Oxford United visited them over the weekend as a build up to the first ever half-term football course held at their facilities. Partnership  Officer James Peterson had this to say about the event:

“This event was the first of its kind that we put on for Stonesfield Strikers. Despite the cold conditions just over 70 players turned up on the day so it goes to show how popular these schemes are. They are a great local football club that focus on both boys and girls development which is something we are really trying to promote within the area."

We are still looking to link up with more clubs in the area so if you are interested in finding out more about the partnership scheme please contact James Peterson at or 01865 337 514.

It’s not too late to join one of our fantastic football courses. Oxford United are again running their hugely popular and successful football courses over the half term, giving boys and girls aged 4-13 a great way to spend their free time.

Available at locations across Oxfordshire the courses provide the perfect way to keep kids active, while also giving them the chance to develop their skills with the help of our fully qualified FA coaches.

All course attendees receive tickets to watch a first team Oxford United game and stand out performers may even be recommended to the club's Academy. Members of the United first team squad will also be paying a visit during the week's activities.

Courses run at

(10.00am till 2.30pm)
Glory Farm School, Bicester
Oxford Spires Academy, Oxford
Stonesfield Strikers FC , Stonesfield

The cost is £12 per day or £45 for the week.
