Torquay Preview

9 November 2012

We look forward to Saturday's big game

We look ahead to tomorrow's npower League 2 game at home to Torquay United.

Team News
United are looking to bounce back from Tuesday's defeat against Dagenham & Redbridge with victory at the Kassam Stadium tomorrow against the Gulls (3pm).

Chris Wilder has, once again, a selection dilemma in midfield with Adam Chapman, Lee Cox, Peter Leven, Jake Forster-Cakey and Simon Heslop all available while Johnny Mullins is challenging for a starting place.

Liam Davis will once again be looking to be involved after making a substitute appearance on Tuesday night but Alfie Potter remains a doubt with a tight hamstring while Damian Batt, Deane Smalley and Michael Duberry are still unavailable.

The Opposition
Torquay will also be looking to return to winning ways and end a two match losing streak. The Gulls were knocked out of the FA Cup by Harrogate Town last Saturday and then beaten 1-0 by Barnet on Tuesday night.

Manager Martin Ling  told www.torquayunited.com: "The league is looking good this year but getting knocked out of the three cup competitions isn’t great, and we will suffer for that financially. The only one to really suffer will be me when I’m looking to sign new players and I know that avenue has gone now.

“We’re in a lot stronger position than we were last year and if we repeated the final two thirds of last season to this, we would actually go up as champions.

“The crowd on Saturday rightly got frustrated, as did we, but I had one bloke say to me as I was walking along the sidelines, ‘why don’t you resign Ling’? I couldn’t help but think we need to keep this in perspective. It was a poor result and the reaction was what you expect, but being beaten by Harrogate can be blown out of proportion."
