Early team news as United welcome Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup on Wednesday
United go into tomorrow night's FA Cup with Budweiser second round replay looking to book a place at home to Sheffield United in the third round.
The U's welcome Accrington Stanley to the Kassam Stadium following a thrilling 3-3 draw in the first game just over a week ago, when Michael Raynes headed home a last-gasp equaliser to set up a second meeting.
United will be without midfielder Simon Heslop after his red card against Aldershot on Saturday. The club appealed against that sending off but the appeal was unsuccessful and Heslop will miss the next three games.
However, there was better news with both Jon-Paul Pittman and Andy Whing getting good reports from specialists. The pair were both stretchered off in the first meeting with Accrington and were waiting on scan results to determine how long they would be sidelined. At one stage it was feared that their seasons could be over, but it now looks as though they will be out of action for far less than that time, with Pittman due back in around a month and Whing hopefully soon after that, depending on how the injury settles down.
United will wait on the fitness of Alfie Potter and Peter Leven, who both picked up knocks on Saturday, before naming the squad to face Accrington. See Chris Wilder previewing the game in Yellow Player.
