Morecambe Preview

14 December 2012

We look forward to Saturday's big game

We look ahead to tomorrow's npower League 2 game at Morecambe.

Team News

United will be without the suspended Simon Heslop for the trip to the Globe Arena.

Heslop was shown a straight red card against Aldershot last Saturday and misses three games, with Saturday being the first of them.

The U's head north today, training at Bolton this afternoon, with Tom Craddock and Alfie Potter both available after recent injury problems . Craddock is now fully fit after a rib problem while Potter has shaken off an ankle injury suffered in the Aldershot game. Jake Forster-Caskey, ineligible in the FA Cup, returns to the squad.

Michael Duberry took an important step towards a return this week with a behind closed doors game, reporting no ill effects, but Saturday may come a little too soon for a return.

Remember, it's a 1pm kick off on Saturday

The Opposition

Jim Bentley says Morecambe are facing one of their most important weeks of the season.

“The lads are really glad to be playing at home again because we have begun to get a bit of a head of steam at the Globe recently and gone on a decent unbeaten run. We’ve scored a few goals and looked really solid at the back and if we can keep that form up and get a couple of wins we would be well on our way to our first target of 50 points.

“It certainly won’t be easy because although Oxford are not having the best of runs lately they do have some quality players and an excellent manager in Chris Wilder and we will need to be at our best.

“We haven’t been at our best in the last two league games but we have picked up four points and that is what is important.”
