Samir signed for United in June 2018 on a season-long loan from Sheffield United. After starting his career in the age-group ranks at Cambridge United, he represented Arsenal at U18 level before joining Aston Villa, aged 16. He made three Premier League appearances for the Villains and joined MK Dons on loan in August 2013, linking up with Karl Robinson. The deal was made permanent at the start of the following season. Three years and over 100 appearances later, Samir was bought by Sheffield United on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
