Rob joined United from Reading on a two-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee in January 2018. He had spent much of the season on loan at League Two Lincoln City, where he earned a reputation as a ball-playing centre-half. Previously had loan spells with Basingstoke Town and Cheltenham Town, where he won a medal for promotion from the Conference National to the Football League. He has been capped by England at under-18 and under-19 levels.
