About the role
The Army relies on a wide range of vehicles to transport soldiers as well as supplies like fuel, ammunition, rations and spare parts. You're trained to maintain service and drive these vehicles in many different types of conditions, including demanding environments like those you might find on operations.
Lance Corporal Emma Moxon gets to drive the Army's mightiest machines
“I really enjoy my job as a driver in the RLC. Whether you’re working in the UK or on tour, you find yourself doing different things every day. And you get trained on all sorts of specialist vehicles, from hi-tech Land Rovers like the Panther to the heavily armoured Mastiff command vehicle.”
All soldiers do the same initial training course before going on to learn a trade. Your specialist Driver training gives you a range of licences and will teach you how to maintain them.
